I found the garage guru from a posting at my local dry cleaner. It's like it was meant to happen, as I had a garage catastrophe that I hadn't quite resolved how to mitigate. Immediately, my mind started going - I ripped off the hang tag and gave Chad a call.

He was responsive, and we set out a time to meet and have him assess my disaster. My husband and I had cleared our basement out to be finished - and everything had been moved into our double garage. Two years later, not only was the basement unfinished, but the garage had become the dumping ground for other projects, junk, outgrown items and broken ones. It was something out of the show, "Hoarders".

Chad told me it wasn't the worst he's seen, ha, ha, but that he would estimate it to be a two-day project. I actually thought that was pretty good, given that I found the whole proposition to be overwhelming on my own. He would clean everything out, sort it, then clean the garage, and put back in the stuff to keep in an organized manner. Finally . . . a plan!

Chad gave an on-the-spot price that seemed reasonable. We set dates to start and finish the project, and lastly devised a scheme to surprise my husband with the clean out for his upcoming birthday. As the dates drew closer, Chad did call to confirm that we were still on.

During the project, Chad worked quickly and efficiently. I chose to help him with a lot of the sorting, as I needed to make decisions on where things went - charity, garage sale, junk, keep, etc. It went more quickly than I imagined. By the end of the first day, everything was out of the garage and mostly sorted. Probably the best thing was that Chad hauled stuff away to the appropriate place that is hard to get rid of, like electronics and paint. I surprised my husband with the early results, and he couldn't believe it.

The final day was spent wrapping up the last of the sorting, hauling away, and then Chad cleaned, organized and got the garage back in order. He did do a few minor projects to better handle groups of items, like sports equipment, tools, gardening supplies. At the end, we couldn't believe how great it looked. My husband is less stressed because the stuff isn't just overtaking us, our cars both get in the garage, my kids can easily get to bikes, balls and skate boards, and my neighbors are all jealous!
